Responding to global models and European norms: Founding the University of Luxembourg
Belval Campus, Maison des Sciences Humaines, Black Box
From 18.00 to 20.00
Lecture held in English
Abstract
Culturally embedded in the Greater Region and Western Europe, Luxembourg’s higher education was transformed when global education expansion and the European pan-Bologna process provided a window of opportunity. The founding of the University of Luxembourg in 2003 reshaped traditions, especially outgoing student mobility, and bolstered intercultural experiences, reflecting the country’s super-diversity and multilingual culture. Today, Luxembourg boasts the highest proportions of internationally mobile students and workers with tertiary attainment, while its scientific networks and research collaborations have put Luxembourg on the map in global science. Luxembourg’s sustainable development relies on these advances, collectively achieved by its university’s diverse scientists, staff, and students.
